Blood & Plunder Demonstration Day at Justplay Games February 10th 2019

Chris and I arranged a day demonstrating the joys of Blood & Plunder at the excellent Justplay Games in sunny Liverpool. , where Paul looked after us and made sure we didn't lack for tea and coffee.

After a quiet start, we got a good few games in, with plenty of interest, conversations and admiring glances at the ships, scenery and forces. Suffice it to say, we had a great day out.

Justplay Games at 61 Tithebarn St, Liverpool L2 2SB

We had the first table in the door, excellent...

Chris setting up just inside

Two sloops looking to lock horns...

I am very proud of my lighthouse, and next aim is to make a rocky outcrop for it

The No Peace Beyond The Line "Pilot" figure is now officially the Lighthouse keeper

The Spanish Sloop "Sirena"

The empty Frigate, for scenery only...

Some Spanish friendly natives...

The English sloop...

Sea dogs galore...

The view of the village and dockside from the English side...

The English land forces with the dreaded French Filibustiers...

The local "Guide" points the way for the French to close on the Spaniards

Forlorn Hope and Filibustiers...

The board from the English side...

On the docks, the doctor cuts to the bone while the Jesuit offers his help

The Spanish crew...

The Spanish land forces

The Spanish advance...

The Spanish close...

Nicely grouped for a Forlorn Grenade...

The English get the first broadside but do little damage

As they closed and boarded, both sides swung over and cleared their opponents aft decks...

Both forces get reduced quite significantly...

The English retake their aft deck and the Spanish look desperate

The Spanish strike their colours

Both sides set up for another slog...

Chris is a better instructor than I, so he helped players out and I just let the Spanish die...

The use of command points was soon picked up
To the chagrin of the Spanish commander and his men...

The Lanceros and Forlorn Hope wiped each other out

The English "Filibustiers" Have I mentioned how much I detest these guys???

Especially as they killed my captain...

Ship to ship, the Spanish lost  lo to cannon fire but make up for it with close range musketry

The sloops close in again

But blurry but grappling was successful...

The English initially whiffed their boarding attacks....

Both sides took the aft decks again. But eventually the British cleared the Spanish off the ships
